| Shirt worn | Size XS · $50 (sale price paid) · 80% Polyester / 20% Lycra · Made in PakistanXS was a little tight at the shoulders, and there is some visible bunching around the deltopectoral area. Sleeves stop around mid-bicep. Since it's a rash guard and not a shirt, I would rather accept the tightness and bunching than have the sleeves too long. |
| Shorts worn | Size XS · $50 (sale price paid) · 80% Polyester / 20% Lycra · Made in PakistanThe length rides up above mid thigh for me, slightly higher than what I normally wear. The waist is snug, but not tight nor uncomfortable. The material feels softer on the skin versus other shorts I've worn. |

You’ve seen it worn by a lot of the top grapplers in the sport. This past ADCC Worlds it was one of the most popular brands worn. But is it worth the hype? I put it to the test with the American Jiu Jitsu V2 rash guard + shorts set. I bought this set about 10 months ago, and it has been in my rotation consistently since.
As for wash and care, I throw these into the washer and dryer with all my other clothes.
For the shirt, both sleeves and the collar showed some loose stitching after a number of wears. The shorts have been fine.
So 10 months of wear and tear, does this kit perform? I would give it a solid yes, however, at the time of this review this particular SKU is not being sold. Level Black is constantly refreshing their product line so the hope is that the construction and quality carries over from season to season.
If you're a fan of the LA-streetwear and military-inspired logo and styling, this brand is for you.
Every movement in the battery above (shrimp, bridge, technical stand-up, inversion, sprawl, shot/hip-rotation entry) is checked with a paired before/after photo per our standard protocol — see How We Test for the full method and our self-purchase disclosure policy.
Verdict, plain language: Thumbs up, especially at the price point I purchased at ($50 per item), which was during a sale. If you are patient, you can score good deals.
I haven't competed in it.
